Q: What are ClamXAV’s system requirements?
- ClamXAV 3 requires a Mac running macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or newer.
- ClamXAV 2 requires a 64 bit Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 to 10.9.5.
- A subscription to ClamXAV will work on both version 2.19.x and version 3.x.
Q: How do I install ClamXAV?
With a ClamXAV for Home subscription, you can install and activate ClamXAV on up to three Macs in your household. Similarly, ClamXAV’s Family Pack allows you to install and activate ClamXAV on up to nine Macs. But how do you go about installing and activating the app on your additional Macs?

You will need to choose the correct version of ClamXAV based on your version of macOS (formerly OS X). If you are using OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or below, you will need to download ClamXAV 2.

If you are using OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher, you will need to use ClamXAV 3.
Q. How do I activate ClamXAV?
After installation, your next step is to activate the app using the details in the order confirmation email you received after purchasing a subscription. We’ve tried to make this process as easy as possible and there are three ways activation can be performed.
Activation Link
Your order confirmation email contains an activation link which will automatically open ClamXAV and activate the app by applying your subscription details. The easiest way to activate the app is to forward this email to the Mac you just installed ClamXAV on and click the activation link within. You will notice that the link differs for versions 2 and 3 of the app.

Please make sure you use the correct link for the version you have installed.
Registration Key
Besides the activation link, ClamXAV can also be activated using your unique registration key. This key is included in your order confirmation email and resembles the following:

In the event that you can’t locate your order confirmation email, you can make a request for the key to be re-sent by visiting our Lost Key Retrieval page.
You can also find your registration key by logging into your Subscription Dashboard. Once logged in, select “View Details”, and you’ll be shown your registration key.
Order Number
ClamXAV can also be activated using the order number from your original order (i.e. not the number generated by a subscription renewal). This can also be found in your order confirmation email. Usually, an order number resembles the following:
CLA123456-1234-12345
Repeat the steps above for activating using a registration key but copy and paste your order number rather than your registration key once the appropriate window is displayed.
Q. How do I install and activate ClamXAV on an additional/new computer?
To install ClamXAV on an additional computer, please download the appropriate version of ClamXAV, then use either your automatic registration link or your registration key to register your subscription. Instructions on choosing the correct version are under “What are ClamXAV’s system requirements”, at the top of this page, while instructions for retreiving your registration information can be found under “I’ve lost my registration key”, below.
To install ClamXAV on a new computer (replacing the old computer that you were using), first deactivate your old computer, then install and register ClamXAV on the new computer.
Q: I’ve lost my registration key
To retrieve your registration key, please use our Lost Registration Key Retrieval Tool.
Alternatively, you can log into your Subscription Dashboard, here. Once you’ve logged in, click the “View Details” link, next to your subscription, and your registration key will be displayed. Copy, then use in the ClamXAV app to register your subscription.
