Clamd is using a lot of RAM
You may have noticed the clamd process in Activity Monitor using an abnormally large amount of RAM. Although this is an uncommon issue, it is one that we are aware of.
Thankfully, it can be solved by following a few simple steps!
-
Open the ClamXAV app
-
Select “Preferences” from the top right-hand corner of the app
- In the “Preferences” window, select “Advanced”
- In “Database”, please make sure “Enable detection of non-Mac malware” is unticked
Following these steps should reduce the amount of RAM being used by clamd. If you continue to experience high RAM usage, please contact us at support@clamxav.com
