Beta Testing

Thanks for your interest in trying out our latest and greatest version of ClamXAV prior to release.

NB: This is pre-release software to address the issues listed below. It may contain other issues that we haven’t identified yet. New features may be subject to removal prior to release.

ClamXAV v3.9.2 (11297) - What’s new?

Here’s a run-down of what’s in the works for ClamXAV v3.9.2

  • Improved handling of scheduled scans when drive to be scanned is unavailable
  • Improve accuracy of DB update scheduler
  • Improve accuracy of file counter
  • Fix issue where DB update may be delayed if Xenia connection drops and re-establishes itself
  • Malware detection alert emails (business licences only) are now batched to send after a scan completes rather than immediately after each detected file.
  • Fix Dutch localisation (many thanks to Richard Kwakkel)

How to get it

You can get the beta by either downloading the installer or via in-app update.

To opt in/out of receiving beta updates via in-app update, go to:

ClamXAV -> Settings -> Advanced, and select/deselect “Enable Beta Updates”

Report bugs!

Please remember to report ANY issues with this build to support@clamxav.com

How to revert to the non-beta version

Version 3.9.2 introduces a slight change to the reports database format, which means you will not be able to view old entries in ClamXAV’s Reports window, nor will you be able to log any new events if you revert to a previous version.

To regain logging/reporting functionality after downgrading to a previous version, you will need to remove the database file at /Library/Application Support/ClamXAV/Logs/ClamXAV-logs.cxav after uninstalling.

  1. Uninstall ClamXAV using the partial uninstaller
  2. Delete the file at /Library/Application Support/ClamXAV/Logs/ClamXAV-logs.cxav (optional)
  3. Re-install ClamXAV using the main installer pkg
